Those final steps…

This week I wrote my dedication and acknowledgements for The Truth Will Out. An exciting time for any author, but also one that fills me with a little apprehension. There are so many people that have helped with research and support during the two years it took me to write this novel. I desperately don’t want to miss anyone out. The book wouldn’t be what it is today without all the help I’ve received and I’m grateful to each and every one of them.

A few days later, I received the typeset PDF version of the book. It’s interesting how a different arrangement transforms a word document manuscript into the layout of a real book. I admit I felt a sizzle of excitement. There’s even an author bio and picture of me, and of course Bollo gets a mention too. Even though this is the second time around, I’m still pinching myself. I don’t think the exhilaration of seeing your own work in print ever leaves you.

This forthcoming week I’m working on an interview that will appear at the back of the book. Although I’ve done a few interviews in the past for An Unfamiliar Murder, each and every one feels important and particularly this one as it will sit there in the back of the paperback forever. Well, at least on my bookshelf it will!

I also had some really wonderful news recently. I’ve been invited to write for ‘Living the Indie Life’ magazine. Living the Indie Life is a magazine that celebrates every aspect of independent pursuit, from music and films to writing and books, and applauds a real ‘follow the dream’ attitude. I’m honoured to be asked and, although it’s been many years since I’ve done freelance, I can’t wait to get started. Something about their ethos makes it all so exciting and I hope to continue to share my passions of writing, books and travel over there.

This forthcoming week is filled with Christmas celebrations. I have my work’s Christmas party, an authentic Indian meal out with my yoga group and, on Tuesday, I’ve been invited to the Corby Writers’ Group Christmas dinner where I look forward to meeting other local writers.

Finally my new publisher, Legend Press, is marking the countdown to Christmas with an authors’ advent calendar. Each day they grill a different author on their hopes and fears for the festive season. Do hop over and take a look. I’m up on the 18th!

Have a great week, everyone, and I hope you enjoy all the fun, frivolity and parties that the festive season has to offer.

I for one, cannot wait to get my hands on your second novel so that I can devour it.

    Congrats Jane!

  2. An author’s advent calendar–I will have to check it out 🙂 Congratulations on all the success coming your way. Like all the writers who visit here, I know you worked for it.
