The London Launch of Watching Over You by Mel Sherratt

Last week I was honoured to be invited to the launch of Mel’s latest book, Watching Over You.

Anybody that knows Mel through Twitter, Facebook or in person will be aware just how hard she’s worked to get her books out there, and last year she proved what an inspiration she is when she signed a two book deal with Amazon’s own Thomas and Mercer. Less than a week after its launch, Watching Over You has hit bestseller status in the Amazon Kindle chart. A fitting end to a wonderful week – well done Mel!

The launch was held in the function room of The Fellow, near Kings Cross and proved to be a celebration party full of sharing champagne and nibbles with Mel’s friends and family. Mel’s agent, Madeleine Milburn, introduced her with a beautifully passionate speech about their journey together, and the lovely lady herself followed up with a tear-jerker where she thanked many of the people that helped and supported her on her way.

Despite dragging my dad along because I didn’t think I’d know anyone (I know, sad!), it actually turned out to be a great evening for introductions. It was lovely to see some familiar faces from my brief encounter with last year’s Harrogate crime writers’ festival and also to meet up with some Twitter friends in the flesh. As usual, my pics don’t do it justice and are a tad dark(!), but I’ll share my highlights with you anyway. Here goes:

Mel will shortly be joining us on the blog to share her inspirations for setting her books in her home town of Stoke On Trent. One to look out for.

Wishing you all a great week!
