News About My First Book: An Unfamiliar Murder

Some years ago I signed a contract with US based Rainstorm Press for my first novel, An Unfamiliar Murder, which kicked off my adventure into the world of publishing. It’s been a wild journey, at times exhilarating, at others mind-boggling, and certainly a huge learning curve. What followed were two further novels and those of you familiar with my work will be aware that I switched to a British publisher, Legend Press, for my second and third titles in order to improve distribution.

AUM Good small sized April 2012

Last week, my contract with Rainstorm Press came to an end and with mixed emotions I requested that the rights of An Unfamiliar Murder were returned to me. This means that the title will be out of print and unavailable for a while as I consider my options on how to take it forward. I’m told that readers continued to download and buy An Unfamiliar Murder right up to the last minute, and therefore I will be looking to put something in place to return it sale in the near future. I just need to take some time to figure out how best to do this.

I’d like to send heartfelt thanks to all the readers who have reviewed, sent me emails, tweets and messages about this novel. It’s been wonderful to hear that so many people have enjoyed reading it. Gratitude also goes to everyone who has supported the book through interviews, blog posts, tweets and shares – I really appreciate your support. Finally, thanks to Rainstorm Press for picking up An Unfamiliar Murder and starting my publishing journey. Every book is important, but a debut especially so, and I’ll always be grateful for their investment.

I will report more news on the future of An Unfamiliar Murder as and when I have it. In the meantime, I would like to assure everyone that The Truth Will Out and Before It’s Too Late will continue in sale as usual. Thank you for reading my update.

  1. Sorry to hear, since this is the publication “era” when we first met…but, new life, a re-release can happen, and I’m hopeful An Unfamiliar Murder will find new life and be the better for it. My own “first book” just recently found a second publisher and is out and about in an expanded edition. Isn’t the writing life thrilling at times? Cheers to yours! And Bollo!

    • Hi Justin, Lovely to hear from you. Yes, this is the book that brought our friendship together! I’m so glad things are going well with your new publisher. We certainly live in interesting publishing times. Sending hugs to Zippy & Kipling:)
