A Good Read: Untouchable by Ava Marsh

Good read posts aren’t reviews as such, more a sharing of a few lines on selected books I’ve found interesting and original. My latest is Untouchable by Ava Marsh.

Here’s the blurb.

They know who she is. She knows too much.

Stella is an escort, immersed in a world of desire, betrayal and secrets. It’s exactly where she wants to be. Stella used to be someone else: respectable, loved, safe.

When a fellow call girl is murdered, Stella has a choice: forget what she’s seen, or risk everything to get justice for her friend. In her line of work, she’s never far from the edge, but pursuing the truth could take Stella past the point of no return.

My thoughts:

This novel is not for the fainthearted. Written through the eyes of a call girl, it is both racy and sexually explicit in places. But it’s also beautifully written and one of the most original books I’ve read in a while.

I was drawn to Stella, who we see both in her work and (very separate) home capacity and empathised completely with the vulnerabilites of a character that is battling her own demons. I don’t want to give too much away, but it was interesting to watch her back story unfold and see how it influenced the decisions she made.

With a interesting plot twist that packs a punch, this is a murder mystery with a difference. Highly recommended.
